When you first wake up in the morning, before your brain has time to start thinking about responsibilities, obligations, or what’s going on in your life, start writing. Fill up three pages of whatever is on your mind. Do not try to tamper what you are writing, do not try to write about a particular theme or idea, just write whatever comes to your mind.

If you are using a Google doc or an app on your phone, instead of thinking about filling three pages, set a timer for between fifteen or thirty minutes and write for that length.

Regardless of how you do your morning pages, the most important concept is to grasp that you do not restrain yourself in anyway. That you do not worry about writing the right thing or that your grammar or spelling is wrong. You must write and let the words come out as quickly and easily as possible without resistance.
