One way to determine your true motives is to create a pie chart. Draw a circle and think about your behavior or choices. Inside the circle, write down all the reasons for your behavior that come to mind. Don’t allow yourself to stop at the first that comes to mind. Get deep and think of everything that could have influenced you. Once done, draw lines inside the circle and create pie pieces of them according to how strongly you think they influenced you.

You don’t have to worry about creating exact percentages, just make an approximate visual value. For more input, you can ask a partner or someone who knows you well to offer input on the pie slices.

Once your pie is complete, take the time to review it and identify any blind spots  in your behavior.
