We all have automated actions we take without thinking about why we are doing so. When they are healthy habits or actions that provide positive results that keep us gainfully employed, physically in shape, or in fully- functioning relationships, then those are excellent automated habits to indulge. However, sometimes we do things by reflex, without thinking them through, to our detriment.

When we do that on a regular basis, we often wind up in an unhealthy state of some kind because we are not living in accordance with our values. We feel we have little choice in the world and are not living with intention.
